Utah Trip

Luke's first trip to Utah was sooo great!  He did so well in the car on the way there, and back.  He slept pretty much the whole way there!  We have such a good little man!
So we left on Wednesday Aug 8th and came home on Tuesday the 14th.. Kyle's birthday.
We made the trip up in the first place to go to my friend Ashten's wedding.  She was one of my companions, and the only one the I had the pleasure to train.  I just love her and I am was soo excited that I got to be at her wedding.  I drove with another missionary from my mission Charity Eyer, we never served together but we served around each other and in a lot of the same areas.  It was so nice to catch up with her and talk about our mission the whole way to Manti temple, which is where Ashten got married.  I love going to weddings!  The spirit felt in the temple in like nothing you can feel anywhere else!  I love it!!!

Not the best picture, but more sisters from the mission

She is soo beautiful!

In between weddings, because we went to another one at the end of our trip, we got to do all sorts of fun stuff.  Like going to our favorite places to eat, going to Thanksgiving point, visiting our family, playing games, and playing ultimate frisbee.  That is the first exercise I've done since I got pregnant...

Highlight for me is going to Costa Vida!!  I LOVE this place!

Love me some Annie!!!

We went in and saw Karly's new classroom and her PE office.
She is going to be amazing!

We got to see Nate and Victoria's family again before they move to DC.. boo

We had a very yummy birthday boy breakfast.  We also got to spend Kyle's birthday going to Sam McConkie's wedding in Salt Lake.

I love the Salt Lake temple.

Lots and lots of firsts for Luke

Because it's been a while since I've blogged I have a lot to catch up on!  Luke is already 6 weeks old, and that time has flown by!  We have been busy.  He has grown so much, and we had one little scare that I don't think should have been a scare at all.. I will explain.  We've been out the lake in Fallon, Tahoe, Reno, Auburn, and we are taking our first big road trip to Utah in a few weeks.. eek.
I am going to bullet point these as there has been way too much to catch up on to write it all out
1. First trip to Reno and Auburn at 2 weeks!

2. Found out that Luke hates his car seat, and screamed almost the whole way to Reno the first time we went.  He puffs up his chest so his straps are way too tight, and then lets it fall when he realized he's lost that battle again.
3. First bath pictures.. he's sooo cute!

I didn't give him a real bath first.. we washed him off by the sink.  I didn't trust myself to hold him up without dropping him.  The picutre with Kyle and I is his first bath in our apartment.

4. Luke got to meet his uncle Kolvin in Auburn, who was born just 5 days before Luke.
Luke and Kolvin

Our little family in Auburn, we didn't get to go the river, but we soon will.

5. His first time to the lake
His swimming outfit was way too big, and now at 6 weeks it fits him just right.

I was nervous to take him out there, but we made it two days in a row.

6.  Meeting his family
Meeting aunt Tonya

Meeting grandpa and uncle Bill

Meeting grandma Tetzel

Meeting grandma Sorensen

Meeting Uncle Tim, aunt Kassi, Kylan, Mya, and Emmit

Papa Rick

Uncle Gav

Aunt Rayanne, Braden.. who is not in the pic, Leah, and Joce

Meeting grandpa Sipherd

Logan

And even though she is not related by blood, his honorary aunt Annie

All of this to be continued...

Catch up! Labor and Delivery

Now that we have the internet, and I feel like I have some time and am not stressing out, I can update this puppy!  As you can see A LOT has happened in our lives over the last 5 weeks!  First an update about how my labor and delivery went.
First lots of pain...

this was taken just after I had to climb up the stairs because the power was out on this side of the hospital!  Not too bad, I had to stop in the middle while I was having a contraction... but I'm getting a little ahead of myself.
So I started contracting on Monday the 11th around 7:00 pm, it was too, but getting there I thought.. I actually took castor oil that morning so I was waiting anxiously to see if it would work... as in put me into labor, it did work the other way too.  So I woke up that night to some pretty painful contractions that were about 3 minutes apart, so I decided that it was time to go!  Kyle and I drove to the hospital where they took me up, in the elevator because it was working at the point in time.  They got me all set up and the nurse tried checking to see how far along I was, and she could not find my cervix.  A problem that my doctor had for all of my appointments prior to this.  So she waited another hour and still could not find it.  So the nurse called the on call Dr... who was not mine.. or she was have said to induce me as I was already 3 days over my due date.  But he told me to go home and just go to my appointment tomorrow and see what Dr. St. Pierre said.  So I went home and I was NOT a happy camper because my contractions did not let up.
The next day I got into my appointment early, and my Dr. found my cervix and I was still just dilated to a 2.  She could tell how disappointed I was because she then said well let me go and check to make sure there aren't any scheduled inductions today because we'll get you in there.  Turns out they were at their max limit and I had to go home again.. still contracting and they were still just as painful... and I was even more upset.  When I left my Dr. said if your contractions get any closer just go in because she was on call that night.
So I go home and Kyle's mom came out because we all knew it was going to happen any minute, but I finally could not handle the pain around 9:30 that night, the 12th, and went back into the hospital. That is when I had to walk up the stairs because the power was out.

All these people wanted to carry me up the stairs.. I said no thanks.

Then when I get into the room there was no air conditioning!  Fun times!  It all kicked in about an hour later.
So another long story but I'll make it shortish..
I could not be induced that night, I was still only at a 2, so I had to get narcotics injected every 2 hours so I could sleep through the night.  The nurse finally said we are going to induce you at about 5:30 am on the 13th.  I got my epidural because by then I was so done with the contractions, and then they started the pitocin.  I was in heaven!  I actually got some good sleep!
Around 11:00 the nurses came running into the room and pushed my onto my side because Luke's heart rate slowed way down, and then needed to see if switching me from side to side would release some of his stress.  After about a half hour after the nurse checked me and I was at a 3, the nurse checked me again and I was at an 8!!  That was a shocking news, but then I got really nervous because it was getting close!  Not too long after that the nurses told me it was time to start pushing that I was there!  It was weird trying to push when I couldn't feel anything but after an hour and 15 minutes at 12:11 pm my little Luke David Sipherd entered this world.. by me throwing up.  Honestly if I knew that throwing up would get him out I would have let myself do it a long time before that!
When Luke came out his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck three times an that was why his heart rate kept dropping.  The Dr. unwrapped it and as soon as she did Luke let out a big ol cry and he was fine.  I thanked Heavenly Father countless times that everything was ok, that he was ok.  Then Kyle and I just got to enjoy my little man!!
I have to say how thankful I am for Kyle, he was such an amazing coach and kept me pushing when I really really didn't want to anymore.  I love and appreciate him sooooo much!!!

The first night of sleeping in the hospital

This was right after the nurses came in and started turning me side to side, I had to stay on oxygen for a long time!

Kyle being so sweet, and my face being soo big!

We missed it by a minute!

My sweet boy!

Big baby boy

My mom and Sara were so amazing!  They helped so much during this whole process!

Our first picture together

Daddy!

Cute little story.  When Luke was being cleaned up and was crying, Kyle went up to the table and said hi Luke, and Luke stopped crying and looked over at his dad.  I think that's where Kyle lost it.
